PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

5th June 2009, World environment day

As a part of world environment day celebration on 5th June , our NSS unit has celebrated the day with much reputation. The volunteers planted seedlings across the campus which was collected from their homes. Volunteers are also engaged to clean the campus. There was also an inaugural function which was inaugurated by Shri K.N Abdulla kutty, principal gvhss omanoor Smt.BINDU. K.T (academic head, gvhss omanoor) presided the function and programme officer, Mr.Abdul muneer.k, gave vote of thanks

11th July 2009,World Population Day

Function conducted on July 10 as student’s seminar on “consequence of over Population”. The programme was inaugurated by school principal, KN Abdulla kutty.Naseeba.K ,Sadique.P and Jabir .M.A (NSS volunteers) were moderators

16th July 2009, Inauguration of Regular Activities

It was held on 16th July after noon at school auditorium. The function was inaugurated by PTA president, Mr P Muhammed and presided by Smt Mariyumma K Mammu, NVT English (VHSE). An orientation class was also taken by Mr. ET Muhammad Basheer (Standing committee chairman Muthuvallur Gramma Panchayath& Principal Unity college Kondotty) based on the topic “ NSS and Social Service

6th August 2009,HIROSHIMA DAY

Each year, Aug 6th makes us to remember the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where millions lost their hopes, health and wealth by the America nuclear bomb. The everlasting impact still exists in the region where the present generation too is not free from the chromic miseries seeded by the radiation in the earth.

NSS unit look the Hiroshima day anniversary as an occasion to give public awareness that war never create peace but only war and no life will be in the earth if third world war occurs. The ‘Hiroshima day rally’ lead by the principal, the teachers and whole students with Placard, banners passed through Omanoor town, and assembled in the school campus .Village people encouraged the students with slogans, and sweets were distributed. The gathering was addressed by the principal.

15th August 2009, independence Day

64th Independence Day was celebrated with verity of programme. The NSS unit had taken all initiative for conducting programmes in the school. Shri. K.N Abdulla kutty (principal) hosted the national tri colure at 8.30 am. His inaugural speech included a wide call from all section to live in harmony and thereby keep India’s tradition. It was followed by a grand cultural programme. Gifts were sponsored from different quarters by clubs and members of PTA.PTA President, Shri.Muhammad.P participated in the function and distributed prizes.Mr.K.T.Ashraf, hsst, Al Ansar College, Kizhissery gave key note address.

19th August 2009, MASSIVE BLOOD GROUPING PROGRAM

The NSS unit received dedicated back support from the Govt. Hospital, Omanoor, in all stages for conducting health educative programme. With the support of carrier guidance cell and PHC Omanoor, NSS unit arranged a massive blood grouping camp in the campus. About 1400 strength of the students and staffs of all wings of our school utilizing this opportunity to know their blood group status. With the supervision of MLT teachers and laboratory staff of the PHC, The second year MLT students volunteered in detecting the blood group of the entire mass, who reached the camp, with Significance accuracy and reliability. Only few cases, repetition required to rule out the confusion or suspicious raised by students. A directory (containing details of blood group of students) was prepared in this school.

29th August 2009,ORIENTATION CLASS

NSS UNIT conducted a programme on 29-08-2009 which was helpful to volunteers during Onam holidays .One class was based on “History and Philosophy of NSS” which was handled by Programme officer, Abdul muneer.k and another class on “kitchen gardening ” handled by Sri.Sanjeev kumar,Vocational teacher in MLT course. During the second section a small documentary was arranged. It was based on, how to prepare consumable devices in daily life by simple techniques and less wastage.

7th September 2009,interview with former educational minister

Ten members of our NSS volunteers interviewed Sri. E.T.Mohammed Basher M.P (former educational minister) to prepare an article which is to include in manuscript magazine. The volunteers were motivated very much.

7th&9th September 2009,TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

We conducted a competition on “Best promising teacher-screening ”on 07-09-09. Thirty students are participated in this competition and selected twelve contestants to the final. All the VHSE students and staffs were spectators.

Best promising teacher- Final competition was conducted on 09-09-09 at school smart room. Noushida.KM (From 2nd year VHSE), Saifunnisa.KV (From 1st year VHSE) were winners of the competition and prizes were distributed on 10-09-09 in common assembly.

10th September 2009,FORMATION OF MAGAZINE COMMITTEE

NSS unit meeting on 10-09-09 decided to publish a manuscript magazine and formed magazine committee .HASHIFALI.AT was elected as its editor. announced to bring articles among students and teachers before nov.20.Naseeba (mlt student) gave first article(poem)to the magazine in school assembly.Sri.Abdul basheer.k,HSST,sociology,gvhss omanoor,handover it to Magazine editor, Hasif Ali.

14th September 2009,INTERVIEW WITH SENIOR CITIZENS

Ten members of our nss unit intervied senior citizens to get information about history and result of school. And they prepared an article to include in our manuscript magazine. Volunteers realized the sacrifices faced in the development of school.

24th September 2009,NSS DAY CELEBRATION

As part of nss day celebration-40th birth day of nss-Ruby jubilee year, our NSS unit conducted following programmes on 24-09-09.

At 9-15am : Took pledge by volunteers

At 2-3pm : `Talk on nss’ by Programme officer, Abdul muneer k.

At 3-4.30pm : cleaning of school surrounding

29th September 2009, ADOLESCENT EDUCATION PROGRAMME

As a part of Adolescent Education Programme which is directed by VHSE department; we conducted separate sessions for girls and boys utilizing two experts in the subject

2nd October 2009, Gandhi Jayanthi /orientation class for first students

As part of GANDHI JAYANTHI, we conducted one day orientation camp for new enrolled students. Programme schedule was as follows.

8.30am : registration

09.00am : Ice breaking

9.45am : `GANDHI SMRITHI`

Presiding :Sri.Abdul naser UK(staff secratory)

Topic presentation:Sri.Abdul muneer k.( Programme officer)

Activity : Formation of groups to present a paper after their discussion Programme officer made a speech about the relevance of Gandhian thoughts in the days of globalization. Students raised various doubts that how do we tackle the life ridden miseries by gandhism?

11.00am :Tea break

11.15-12.00am : Cleaning programme (Students volunteers cleaned the school yard, nearby premises and removed all plastic and non plastic wastes etc…)

12.15-01.30pm : Class on LIFE STYLE DESEASES by Sri. Sanjewev kumar (mlt teacher)

01.30-2.15pm : Lunch (it was prepared and distributed by the volunteers themselves)

02.15-04.00 pm : Class on `Personality development through NSS `and `Group dynamics` by K.T Ashraf (HSST sociology,AL-Ansar hss,kizhissery)

19th November 2009 ,TRAFFIC AWARENESS PROGRAMME

To get a basic awareness on traffic rules and students road safety club, the NSS unit conducted a colorful programme on 19-11-2009. The function was inaugurated by Shri.Muhammed Haneefa (sub inspector, vazhakkad police station) and he shared a lot of information with our thousands of students assembled in the ground. Shri.Ram Mohan das (principal, hss omanoor) was presided over the function. Two police constables also shared their views with students

1st December 2009, WORLD AIDS DAY

In order to pass the massage of moral support to the person living with HIV or AIDS (PLHA) the NSS unit organized few vital programme living DEC.1 on this Global ADIS day. NSS volunteers distributed Red ribbon to the entire staff student of school campus, helped them to wear it and poster were also exhibited

During the afternoon, function was inaugurated by Mr. RAM MOHAN DAS (principal of hss) and Mr.SANJEEV KUMAR (Resource person KSACS) was given a speech on “stigma and discrimination” to PLHAS; He described his experience with HIV Positive people and the need of our common people to be free from myths and misconception regarding AIDS or HIV. Two dramas were arranged by the students. The campus drama was a totally educative one to the students which highlighted the scientific aspects of AIDS as an infectious diseases and drama gave a lot of information regarding adolescent issues.

During the evening, a street drama played by the students in omanoor town ironically explained the role of education among the public to eradicate diseases. The students could deliberately elute the psychology of lay men to discriminate blindly those, who do little harm to others as an HIV +VE. While dispersing from the events so many from the public come forward to express their thanks and to congratulate the organizers as they could wipe out so many un scientific information accumulated in their mind so far, by such an eye opener art.

13-12-2009, VISIT TO ADOPTED VILLAGE (PONNAD)

Principal, Programme Officer and about 65 volunteers of NSS visited Ponnad, the camp site and the neighboring residences to study the ground realities as well as the hurdles which may arise during the camp days. N S S volunteers took it as an opportunity to spread the message of the camp to the entire area. Notices were also distributed, and invited all of them to the organizing committee meeting. The same day they found time to clean the Hospital Premises and removed all plastic carry bags and wastes. PTA president, principal and hospital officials accompanied the volunteers during this cleaning campaign.

15th January 2010, PALLIATIVE DAY

IAPC and NSS unit of gvhss omanoor observed Palliative day and its function was inaugurated by Mr.K. P. Sayeed(standing committee chairman, cheekode grama panchayath).Mr. Abdul Kareem (pariraksha coordinator, malappuram dist.) gave class on “palliative care and consolation” . After this session our hundred Volunteers engaged to collect money from public and school and visited persons suffering pain. The Collected money was hand over to the IAPC, Edavannapara chapter on 15-01-2010 at common assembly.

25th February 2010,NSS ANNUAL DAY/VALIDICTORY FUNCTION

As the examination were declared by the Govt ,Our unit declared to complete their work Dairy and all the volunteers submitted their completed work dairy to the programme officer .The general body was inaugurated by our respected Principal K.N Abdulla kutty. He experienced his happiness and satisfied for the commitment and dedication shown by the unit for the last one year throughout, to initiate a new culture of social service in the school and the small village Omanoor. So many volunteers shared their experience of the past two years during the feedback section Some of them were much excited and thank full to NSS for cultivating leader ship qualities and that given them a self esteem. Much of them were much nostalgic. So that they can’t leave the campus and NSS.

After noon programme started with the prayer and presence of the youth writer Ms. Shabna ponnad who released the manuscript NSS magazine “Beyond the letters” By simple but power words how she could overcome the deformities through her elevations to art and poetry. It had motivated the entire audience; Principal, teachers and student’s representatives were made their felicitation. Programme concluded with culture activities and evening tea.
